Growing up whenever the word, “Bored” spewed from my lips, my dad would without hesitation reply, “ Meghan, only boring people get bored.” Ever since then, with focused intentions I vowed to myself I would never allow myself to turn into a humdrum of pessimistic boredom. In result, I became unmistakingly one of the best people I know at filling every second of my time. BUT, what I had to ask myself was, “Is the quality of the time making me better or worse? Was I bringing glory to God, or trying to prove to myself and others that I am successful because I'm “BUSY” and not boring. “
I read this quote that said, “You can’t go to the gym, can’t go shopping, can’t go to work… Now will you spend time with me?”
Wow. I don’t know about you, but that one smacked me! How often do we believe the lie that we are TOO BUSY for God. TOO BUSY to sit down and spend time with the very hands that knitted us together. The very hands that shaped every curve and detail. The very one who breathed life into our dead bones and created a destiny just. For. us. The one who protects us time after time without us even knowing what COULD have happened. Yet still loves us and chooses us EVEN WHEN when we mock His name… Hate his creation… Question Him… Choose our way over His..
We can walk out of this quarantine a different person or the same person. I am determined to get my priorities straight and make more time than ever to really get to know my father. I WILL walk out stronger. I WILL walk out changed. I WILL learn to make time no matter what. Because I don’t want to go through this, I want to grow through it. Will you join me?
